Laser & Intense Pulsed Light Therapies
Lasers & Intense Pulsed Light devices (IPL) are utilized to treat skin blemishes, broken blood vessels, wrinkles, scars and sun damaged skin without the risks or pain involved with major surgery. Skin lasers are so precise in removing diseased or unhealthy skin that normal or healthy skin is hardly affected.
Our Center offers a full line of lasers & IPL devices that complement each other and are able to treat a variety of skin conditions safely and efficiently. The Fraxel® laser and IPL devices can be utilized alone or in combination to treat wrinkles, acne scars and sun damaged skin. They are very safe and can be utilized to treat the skin of the neck, chest and hands as well as facial skin. The Versapulse® laser is a very versatile laser that is used to erase unwanted facial veins, port wine stains, vascular birthmarks, sun blemishes like freckles and age spots, and even man-made blemishes such as tattoos. We will guide you in selecting which laser or IPL device is best for your skin.

Lasers that Rejuvenate
Lasers that rejuvenate and restore sun-damaged skin are divided into two sub-types: Ablative and non-ablative. Ablative skin resurfacing is excellent at removing deep wrinkles and smoothing out heavily sun damaged skin. However, because it removes the outer layer or epidermis of skin, it leaves the skin exposed and results in weeks of down time. Non-ablative lasers on the other hand, work by increasing collagen beneath the skin's surface without damaging the outer layer of the skin. Although not as aggressive, non-ablative lasers can gradually improve the texture and fine wrinkling of sun damaged skin. Because of their non-aggressive nature, several treatments spaced approximately one month apart may be needed to achieve desired results. Non-ablative lasers may be utilized in conjunction with microdermabrasion or chemical peels to achieve synergistic results.
The gold standard of non-ablative lasers is the Fraxel® Laser. Fraxel® laser treatment produces thousands of tiny but deep columns of laser energy known as microthermal treatment zones. These zones are microscopically separated by areas of intact skin that the laser leaves untouched. This fractional treatment allows the skin that remains untreated to help heal the treated skin without the side effects of older ablative technologies. This newer technology utilizes the body's natural healing process to create new healthier skin to replace older, environmentally damaged skin.
Lasers Removal of Blood Vessels & Age Spots
The Versapulse® Laser is three lasers in one. It can effectively treat skin pigmentation, tattoos, vascular birthmarks and broken blood vessels. It utilizes a cold handpiece to increase safety with a much faster recovery time than conventional lasers. IPL devices can also be utilized to remove red flushing and pigmented marks of the face, neck, chest and hands. Our Dermatologists have extensive experience in the use of these devices, having treated hundreds of patients successfully and given conferences nationally and internationally on their use.
Laser Tattoo Removal
The Versapulse® is the most sophisticated laser available for the removal of tattoos. This laser contains three different wavelengths so that tattoos of different colors can be effectively treated. The Q-switched 532 nm wavelength is utilized to treat red ink tattoos. The Q-switched alexandrite wavelength is used to treat green and blue ink and the Q-switched Nd-Yag is used to treat black ink. Together they can very effectively treat multicolored tattoos. Some inks such as bright green and blue inks remain extremely difficult to treat. We have been treating tattoos since 1989 and have treated hundreds of tattoos of all colors, shapes and sizes. Please call for a free consultation.
Skin Rejuvenation Programs
Injectable Fillers
Sometimes wrinkles or deeper skin lines require a substance to fill and replace lost tissue. Collagen is composed of a natural protein that is very similar to the collagen of your own skin. When injected, this collagen can minimize imperfections such as frown and smile lines, acne scars or post surgical scars. Other fillers employ hyaluronic acid which are also naturally found in our skin. Fillers composed of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres can be used to fill deeper defects and re-contour facial lines.
Our center is continually researching newer and better filler materials. These fillers will be added to our practice as they become FDA approved. A consultation with one of our board certified dermatologists will allow you to discuss your concerns and formulate a personalized program to fit your skin type and needs.
Botox® Treatments
Injectable Botox® is used to smooth lines such as frown lines, crows feet and forehead wrinkles, by relaxing the muscles of facial expression. Botox® has been utilized by the medical community for many years, primarily to relax eye and other muscle spasms. It is now FDA approved for cosmetic used to smooth out muscles of facial expression in the glabellar area.
All our dermatologists are experienced Botox® injectors and Dr. Pardo serves as a national trainer for Allergan Corporation, the world's leading manufacturer of Botox® cosmetic.
Fraxel® Laser Treatment For Wrinkles and Acne Scars
Fraxel® laser treatment produces thousands of microscopic columns of laser energy on the treated area of skin. These zones, which are very small but deep, are separated by areas of intact skin that the laser leaves untouched. This fractional treatment allows the skin that remains intact to heal the treated skin. The body's natural healing process creates new healthier skin to replace the older, damaged skin. By design, each Fraxel® treatment targets between 20-25 % of the skin's surface. Therefore, depending on the patient's skin, an effective treatment regimen requires a minimum of four treatments spaced four weeks apart. Treatments are non-ablative and down time is minimal, consisting mainly of swelling, redness and flaking for several days. Because of its gentleness, Fraxel® laser treatments may be done in different body areas that were impossible to treat with ablative lasers. Areas such as the neck, chest and hands can be effectively treated with the Fraxel® laser. Optimal improvement is usually noted three to six months after the last Fraxel® treatment, although most patients notice a gradual but progressive improvement after just the first treatment.

IPL Photofacials
IPL photofacials combat the effects of environmentally damaged skin in a gentle, non-ablative manner. IPL photofacials are designed to gently deliver precise amounts of light to the surface of the skin. The light energy not only targets superficial age spots and broken blood vessels of the skin, but also stimulates collagen production in the deeper layers. Treatments usually take less than one hour and can be done on the face, neck, and chest or on any skin area that is sun or environmentally damaged. The only thing you will notice when you leave the office is mild redness of the treated area. After several photofacials, your skin will appear less red and will have a more even texture and tone.
Facial Peels & Antipigmentation Treatments
As you age, your skin becomes sun and environmentally damaged and dark spots, uneven pigmentation and abnormal cells may appear. Facial peels create an even, controlled shedding of these damaged cells leaving your skin with more even texture and color. Alone or in combination, therapeutic peels such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid or TCA may be employed to achieve the best possible result for your skin. Peels may also be utilized in combination with other modalities such as microdermabrasion or photofacials to achieve even more powerful results. Specialized antipigment peels may be recommended to treat difficult or persistent pigmentation or melasma. During your consultation, you will receive a complimentary VISIA skin analysis which will allow us to optimize your therapy.
Microdermabrasion
Not all microdermabrasion therapies are equal. Microdermabrasion equipment that is not physician strength such as those employed in some cosmetic spas employ very weak suction and do not have the power to abrade the skin appropriately. Others utilize inferior crystals that are not even in diameter and over abrade the skin. Our center utilizes two different types of microdermabrasion equipment; one that utilizes crystals and one that utilizes a vibrating pad. Our esthetician will determine which one is right for your skin type after consulting with you
Sclerotherapy
The Procedure
Removing unwanted leg veins is now easier than ever. Spider veins, as they are commonly called , are found on the legs of over 100 million Americans. These veins are treated by injecting them with small amounts of a solution that constricts them and makes them disappear. Multiple treatments are usually needed but injections are virtually painless and patients can return to work immediately after the procedure.
